Paul Robinson has claimed Dele Alli’s future is a “huge dilemma” for Tottenham this summer.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old only has a future at the club if he feels he can develop on his relationship with Jose Mourinho.
Alli has been frozen out at Spurs for long periods of the season and was an unused substitute in last Sunday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
Football Insider understands that Spurs will sanction the sale of the attacking midfielder for just £25million this summer.
Robinson heaped praise on Alli for not throwing his toys out of the pram in what has been a “very strange” campaign.
“Alli’s future is a huge dilemma for Spurs,” he told Football Insider.
“It has been a very strange season for Dele Alli and he deserves credit for the way he has handled himself because he is always ready and always fit to perform when called upon. We have heard no noises from him.
“He played in Zagreb and again he was a victim and was dropped at Villa, but he was at least on the bench.
“It is very hard to read into what has happened since the Zagreb defeat. Some players have kept their place, some have been benched and some have dropped out of the squad completely. The next couple of weeks will tell us a lot.
“In regards to Dele, he is still very young and if he feels he can develop on his relationship with Mourinho then I still think there is a future for him at Spurs.
“It is really strange from the outside looking.”
