Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed the Tottenham squad will have been "fuming" with Harry Kane's public desire to quit the club over the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the international break will help heal the wounds between Kane and his teammates.

The England captained failed to secure a move away and revealed on 25 August he would not leave the club.

This site exclusively revealed on 9 April Kane wanted to leave Tottenham over the summer.

He then missed the first week of training he was due back for after he was given an extended break following the Euros.

That meant he did not make his first start of the Premier League season until last week.

Asked whether the situation could cause tension between Kane and his teammates, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "I think it would for a few days, but they will be over it now.

"They've got a good international break now to forget about it.

"But definitely at first, the players will be fuming and would have felt betrayed by Harry Kane because he wanted to leave so much.

"After a few days, now he's back in the team, it will die down and it will be forgotten."

Kane has three years left to run on his Tottenham contract after he signed a six-year deal in 2018.

He scored twice in the Europa Conference League play-off second leg last month but is yet to find the net in the Premier League.
