Tottenham tipped for 'total overhaul' in January after Kieran Maguire's £400m transfer reveal
Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to conduct a complete “overhaul” in the January transfer window with cash to splash.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs goalkeeper suggested Daniel Levy may have told Antonio Conte he needs to trim the squad before spending big on new signings.
Football Insider pundit and finance guru Kieran Maguire has calculated Spurs could theoretically spend £400million on new signings and remain within financial fair play limits.
In comparison, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are estimated to have between £241million and £273million of FFP ‘wiggle room’.
Spurs’ financial strength comes from their low net transfer spend, low wages and high profits.
Robinson suggested Levy would give money to Conte to spend in the January window.

However, he suggested the Italian boss would still have to trim his squad.
“I would expect sizable transfer funds to be given to Conte,” Robinson told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs.
“Otherwise, he would not have come to the club.
“I think he understands the work he’s got on his hands there. The squad does need a total overhaul in certain positions, new players do need to come in, areas need strengthening.
“I do not think he would have come to the club without assurances he would be given funds.
“At the same time, I don’t for one minute think Daniel Levy hasn’t turned around to him and said: ‘Okay, I’ll back you but you don’t need a squad of that size. We need to get rid of some other players.’
“I suspect there will be a big spend from Spurs in January in certain areas. I think we’ll see players leaving the club as well.”
