Tottenham tipped to sell Alderweireld after Athletic reveal - pundit
Danny Mills has tipped Tottenham to replace Toby Alderweireld this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender suggested Nuno Espirito Santo is set to rebuild the Spurs defence.
The Athletic reported on 2 July that Alderwierled has told the club he wants to quit the club this summer.
It is claimed his £100,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block to finding a potential buyer.
He has two years left to run on his current Spurs contract.
The Belgium international is one of the club’s longest-serving players and has racked up 236 appearances since signing in 2015.

However, his influence on the wane and he spent last season in and out of the team.
Asked whether it was the right time for Spurs to move on from the defender, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes.
“It’s now about who can you bring in if you sell him and get him off the wage bill. Or, do you get him off the wage bill?
“But if the player wants to go, it’s a bit of a rebuild at Spurs. It depends on who the manager wants, how he wants to play because he can’t just get rid of everybody. You’ve got to keep some players around.
“It’s going to be interesting over the next few pre-season games which way Nuno goes with his Tottenham side.”
Nuno is yet to add to his Tottenham squad since his appointment at the end of June.
Spurs finished down in seventh last season and will play in the inaugural Europa Conference League next term.
