Tottenham will push hard to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham this summer, according to a reliable journalist.
Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold claimed in a question-and-answer session about Spurs’ transfer plans that the club would “love” to seal a deal for the 17-year-old this summer.
Gold explained that the left-sided flyer is seen by Tottenham as a “potential superstar” who has everything that Mauricio Pochettino wants in a player.
Football Insider verdict:
Why wouldn’t Spurs be interested in Sessegnon? He is already the outstanding player in the Championship and has proved he is a matchwinner – scoring in Fulham’s play-off semi-final win earlier this week – as well as having real staying power. For a player who does not turn 18 later this month, the wonderkid’s precocity is astonishing. There is already a sense he is a once-in-a-generation player. Gareth Bale can claim to be the outstanding British player of his generation after making his name at Spurs, and there is growing speculation that Sessegnon could follow the same path to superstardom. Intriguingly, Gold points out that Tottenham will make a move for the wide dazzler this summer irrespective of whether Fulham are promoted to the Premier League. One possibility is that Sessegnon could be signed and then loaned back to the west Londoners for a season. He would then get the game time he needs as he continues his stunning development.
