Tottenham told to complete Ashley Phillips deal 'ASAP' after 'really positive' update - expert

Tottenham have been told to sign Blackburn Rovers sensation Ashley Phillips as soon as possible.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 10 February, Football Insider revealed Man United are desperate to win the race for the 6ft 4in youngster as they see him as a star-in-the-making.

On Sunday (8 May) The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported that Tottenham are now favourites to sign the defender.

Wenham would be delighted with the signing and described his potential arrival as “no risk”.

“I looked into him, he’s a monster. He seems to have the assets and all the physique you want in a centre-half,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“For me, that is no risk, high reward. Get that done as soon as possible. We have a really good relationship with Blackburn.

“We sold them Dilan Markanday in January. To get one over on Chelsea and Man United would be fantastic as well as him looking like a top young talent.

“The update from Alan Nixon is really positive as I rate him highly, he really knows his stuff about the EFL and lower leagues.

“Hopefully we can get this one done ASAP.”

Phillips has also earned rave reviews from Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray this season.

On 10 November, speaking to Lancs Live, the Rovers boss hailed Phillips as “phenomenal” and admitted “the kid has every attribute” you would want in a top defender.

In other news, an expert has claimed Tottenham’s pursuit of West Ham midfielder Soucek could hit the rocks as Antonio Conte stance reported.
