Tottenham told to open double-your-money transfer talks after Hojbjerg reveal - pundit
Noel Whelan has urged Tottenham to open talks over a double-your-money deal to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Roma.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Lilywhites could easily replace the 25-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider on 18th May, Roma boss Jose Mourinho is planning a raid for Hojbjerg a year after he signed the midfielder for Spurs.
Whelan insisted getting £30million would be “good business” for Spurs.
Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “If you can bring money into a club and make money on a player that’s been there a year, then absolutely it’s good business.

“You’ve then also got to think is he a player that is going to be that important to you. If not, then let him go. I didn’t really feel he was a Tottenham player to begin with. Really, I thought he’s probably a Jose Mourinho player.
“I don’t think too many Tottenham fans were going to be licking their lips of the thought of that one. You’ve also got players that can still play that position.
“He’s not going to be a massive loss for Tottenham, in my opinion. He’s a solid player but if it’s Jose’s player he brought in and he still wants him, then I would be open to negotiations. You can replace a Hojbjerg.”
Hojbjerg has been a mainstay for Tottenham this season, with 52 appearances under his belt.
He featured in every league game under Mourinho and missed just five of a possible 19 cup fixtures.
