Tottenham told to sanction Ndombele swap deal after 'serious bid' update - pundit
Tottenham should push for a swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a trade deal is the only way Spurs will get value out of Ndombele’s exit.
This revealed on August 16th that the 24-year-old told club chiefs he wanted to leave before last week’s transfer deadline.
However, Spurs did not receive any suitable offers for the France international and a move away failed to materialise.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (September 5th), the London club now plan to use Ndombele as a makeweight in a bid to sign Franck Kessie.
It is reported that Spurs are ready to launch a “serious” bid for the Ivory Coast international, who is out of contract next summer.

When asked for his thoughts on the potential swap deal, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “That’s the best option in my eyes, definitely.
“When a player makes it abundantly clear he wants to leave the club it is very difficult to keep him as part of the squad.
“Yes, he can be a brilliant player but it just hasn’t work out. There has been too many frustrations. His work rate and consistency has not been there. It has been disappointing.
“Many clubs have shown an interest in Ndombele but none of them are willing to shell out the big-money Spurs want for him. No-one wants to take the risk.
“It’s probably best for player and club if they can use him to get a player like Kessie in. Spurs need to get a player in who wants to be part of the club.
“A trade deal might be the only way to get Ndombele out.”
