Tottenham told to strike 'brilliant' swap deal by pundit after Man City source's Kane bid update
Noel Whelan has urged Tottenham to push for a swap deal involving Bernardo Silva as Manchester City prepare a new Harry Kane bid.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 27-year-old playmaker would be a “fantastic” addition to the Spurs squad.
Football Insider revealed last week (August 13th) Man City are laying the groundwork for an “astonishing” offer and the latest from a club source is that the bid for Kane could be worth as much as £150million.
City have already raised £60million from the sale of fringe and youth players this summer.
The reigning Premier League giants could also green light a big-money sale, with Silva or Aymeric Laporte the most likely to leave.
Whelan suggested Spurs should push to have the Portugal international included as part of the deal.

“Do they (Tottenham) need a Bernardo Silva? Probably, yes, in my opinion,” Whelant told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge.
“Could they (City) not bang a player in and some cash? That way you get the player off your wages and Spurs are gaining a very good international player.
“Moving to Tottenham, he could do a fantastic job for them. Up alongside (Heung-min) Son, that would be a brilliant front three they would have there.
“However, I think Daniel Levy’s holding out for the cash.”
Neither Kane nor Silva featured in Spurs’ 1-0 win over City on Sunday.
The Portuguese star was an unused substitute while the England striker was left out of Tottenham’s squad completely.
