Tottenham told to U-turn on Marc Cucurella after transfer report - expert

Tottenham should end their interest in Brighton wing-back Marc Cucurella, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 23-year-old is “not good enough” for Antonio Conte’s side as he is not a “top-level player.”

Spurs are expected to make significant changes to their first-team squad this summer as Conte looks to put his stamp on the club.

According to the Italian publication TuttoJuve, via Football.London (7 May), Tottenham are set to battle it out with Juventus for Brighton defender Marc Cucurella in the next window.

The left wing-back has impressed for the Seagulls this season and was crowned the club’s player of the season on Monday.

His contract at the Amex Stadium runs until the end of June 2026.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Cucurella would be a welcome addition at Spurs, Robinson said: “No, he’s not good enough for me.

“Spurs need to go for the top level of player and Cucurella isn’t that. If they want to compete with Man City and Liverpool and compete in the Champions League they need top-level players.

“They need to invest in quality and trust the manager. Cucurella is a good player but is he going to take Spurs to that next level? I don’t think so.”

Cucurella joined Brighton from Getafe last August.

He has made 36 appearances across all competitions this season.
