Tranmere Rovers are working on a deal to sign Liverpool defender Adam Lewis, Football Insider understands.

Left-back Lewis is highly-rated at Anfield after coming through the ranks at the club but he could be loaned out in the final 11 days of the lower league window.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that League One Tranmere have made an approach to ask about signing Lewis on loan.

Liverpool are now deciding whether to send Lewis out on loan for the first time so that he can continue his development with regular first-team football.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is short of cover at left-back for Andy Robertson with Alberto Moreno leaving Anfield at the end of last season.

The 19-year-old has yet to make his competitive first-team debut for Liverpool, but he featured for them in pre-season this summer.

Lewis was a regular in the Liverpool Under-23s side last season, making 29 appearances, scoring once and assisting six times.
