Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Arsenal will see a £30million bid for Emile Smith Rowe from Aston Villa as an "insult".

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Villa captain claimed the youngster will not want to leave Arsenal after graduating from the academy.

Football Insider learned on 21 June Villa are preparing a £30million bid for Smith Rowe.

The Gunners have already rejected an offer of £25million from the Midlands giants.

The 20-year-old has just two years left on his Arsenal contract and the club are keen to agree fresh terms.

"They're just testing Arsenal's resolve and maybe Arsenal need the money," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"I still look at it and think the age, the talent he's got, the season he's had, I don't see Aston Villa getting him at that price.

"Arsenal will be fuming, they will probably see it as an insult, offering £30million to one of their best young players.

"I just don't see that one happening. I've seen Arsenal fans on social media now see Aston Villa as the enemy because we're trying to steal their best young players for £30million.

"I just don't think he'd want to leave Arsenal, to be honest. He'd probably see Arsenal as a bigger club than Aston Villa with their history and coming through the academy."

Smith Rowe enjoyed a breakout campaign with Arsenal last season as he scored four times and provided seven assists in 33 games across all competitions.

The England Under-21 international missed just four Premier League games after earning his first start of the season in the competition on Boxing Day.
