Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Celtic should accept a £15million bid for Kristoffer Ajer from Brentford.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted Celtic's £20million asking price is unrealistic given Ajer has just 12 months left on his contract.

This comes after Football Insider reported (13 July) the Hoops board have upped their asking price for the centre-back to £20million.

That has left Ajer furious after they had previously promised he would be sold if their £15million valuation was met.

The Sweden international, 26, currently plays for Rubin Kazan.

Asked for his assessment of Celtic's Ajer price tag, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "With a year left on his contract, yes, he's a good player but £20million might be a bit too much with that contract.

"I'm sure they'll look at it and think 'Maybe we should take £11million, £12million and meet in the middle.'

"That would be a good deal for the defender."

Ajer has scored seven times and provided seven assists in 176 games across all competitions for Celtic in his x-year spell at the club.

The 23-year-old was one of the club's stand out performers last term as they suffered a disappointing trophy-less season.
