Newcastle United are adamant that Alexander Isak will not be sold this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Talks are now getting underway over a new and improved contract for the striker, which would strengthen his position at St James’ Park for the foreseeable future.

While there’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the Swedish international, sources say it would take an "astronomical" offer for him to leave the Magpies in this window.

Football Insider had revealed that the Newcastle forward was added to Arsenal’s four-man striker shortlist for this summer, but it appears Mikel Arteta will have to consider other options to fill that gap.

Since joining the club in 2022, Isak has been a crucial figure in the Newcastle starting lineup, and his current contract runs until 2028.

Isak has been a significant goal threat ever since arriving on English soil, bolstering Newcastle’s attacking options.

With 35 goals in 67 appearances for the Magpies, Isak’s impact on the team is clear to see, which is why he’s gained so much outside interest.

Only Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland managed to better his 21 Premier League goals last season, with the 24-year-old being prolific in front of goal.

While the Magpies might be keeping hold of Isak, the club could be selling a striker as Football Insider revealed that Newcastle are planning to accept a bid for Callum Wilson.

However, his sale would depend on the signing of another striker, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being linked with a move to St James’ Park.
