Sources: Bamford set for talks over blockbuster new Leeds deal
Leeds United are set to open talks with Patrick Bamford over a blockbuster new contract, Football Insider understands.
The in-form striker, 27, will enter the final year of his current deal in the summer and United are keen to tie him down to a long-term agreement by then.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that negotiations are expected to take place soon with Bamford's representatives.
He is set to be offered a major pay hike as a reward for an outstanding campaign that has put him in contention for an England call-up.
Bamford signed a £40,000-a-week contract when he joined from Middlesbrough for £7million in the summer of 2018.
Along with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, he was one of the club's two top earners before Rodrigo became Leeds' record signing last summer amid a raft of big-money recruits.
United's wage bill is set to rocket beyond the £100million mark this season as they establish themselves in the Premier League.
Bamford has been integral to Leeds climbing to 10th in the division with 32 points from 22 matches.
He extended his personal purple patch with his 12th league goal of the campaign in Monday's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Bamford, who has started all 22 of Leeds' league fixtures, has also weighed in with six assists.
The Chelsea academy product is now being touted for an England call-up after previously playing for his country at Under-21s level.
