Besiktas head of foreign transfers Torunogullari Erdal has insisted that the club have no interest in signing Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola claimed on Thursday morning he was hopeful the Italian striker would be playing for Besiktas next season.

However, in an interview with Italian website TuttoMercato, Erdal has rubbished the comments of the forward's agent.

"We know Raiola, who has said Balotelli goes to Besiktas, but he does not," Erdal explained. "We are not interested Our priority is to keep hold of [striker] Mario Gomez."

Balotelli, joined Liverpool in 2014 for £16million and failed to make an impact in the Premier League.

The Italian striker has just finished a season-long loan at AC Milan, where he once again flopped and the Italian giants have said they don’t want to have him back.

He scored just once in 20 Serie A appearances, with his only real input in the Coppa Italia where he scored twice in three games.

Liverpool are expected to offload Balotelli and it did appear Besiktas could be a real opportunity for the striker.

Gomez was in superb form for Besiktas this season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions as the Black Eagles won the Turkish Super Liga title.
