David Turnbull has agreed a £12,000-a-week Celtic deal that includes pay-rise clauses, Football Insider understands.

The attacking midfielder is set to be unveiled as a Hoops signing following his sensational U-turn at the end of last week when he looked destined to join Norwich City.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Turnbull was brought back to the negotiating table and has ended up settling terms that are broadly similar to those he had snubbed a week earlier.

The 19-year-old's pay packet will be multiplied many times and, crucially, the long-term contract he has agreed includes guaranteed pay rises based on him hitting certain targets.

Turnbull is set to see his basic salary increased based on hitting certain appearance and performance targets.

These key clauses were integral to the player's camp ceding some ground in negotiations with the Scottish giants, who were unable to compete with the contract offered to the Scotland youth international by Premier League outfit Norwich City.

Turnbull has already undergone a Celtic medical and will fly out to join the senior squad at their 10-day pre-season training camp in Austria when his transfer is finalised.
