Derby County defender Ben Radcliffe has agreed a deal to join Crawley Town in a permanent move in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The centre-back, 21, has impressed on loan at Gateshead in the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

He was brought to the National League side under the management of Rob Elliot, who has since taken the job at Crawley.

Elliot has moved quickly to seal a deal for the Derby youngster at his new club in Sussex.

Radcliffe has made 17 National League appearances for Gateshead so far this season, starting in 15 of those outings.

He has chipped in with two goals as the Tyneside outfit find themselves in a playoff spot.

They will lose the defender in the new year as he steps up two divisions to challenge for a place in the Crawley side.

Derby star Radcliffe agrees permanent Crawley switch

Radcliffe came through the ranks at Burton before joining Derby on a free transfer last year (2023) and signing a contract until June 2025.

Crawley have now wrapped up a deal to 21-year-old, who has played just 11 senior minutes for the Rams.

The Red Devils are battling relegation in League One with Elliot succeeding ex-boss Scott Lindsey - who left to join League Two side MK Dons earlier this season.

They sit 21st in the table with fixtures against Leyton Orient and Exeter City to come before the window opens next week (1 January).
