Derby have confirmed that they have signed Andre Wisdom from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.

The East Midlands outfit announced the news in a post on their official Twitter account and on their official website on Monday afternoon that the Reds had agreed the terms to his sale and the defender has penned a four-year deal.

There was a slight delay in the confirmation of Wisdom's move to Pride Park, as he was waiting to complete a medical.

However that has now been passed and he is officially a Derby player for the second time in his career after having a loan spell with the club a few years ago.

Wisdom is a product of the Liverpool academy, but made just 22 senior appearances for the club while spending the last four seasons out on loan.

When on his temporary spell at Pride Park in 2013/14 he play at right-back for the Rams, making 38 appearances.

He is Gary Rowett's second summer signing after Curtis Davies was snapped up from Hull in June.

Football Insider Verdict

Wisdom has suffered some poor loan spells ever since he fell short of the required quality at Liverpool, but it's strange that they decided to keep him around for so long. His stint at West Brom proved he didn't have the capability to be a Premier League defender, but he still could do a good job for a Derby side which will be keen to challenge for promotion under the leadership of Rowett next season. Davies is a very good signing for the Rams as his experience in the second-tier will certainly go a long way. Couple that with the youthfulness of Wisdom and they could strike up a very solid partnership next year. As for Liverpool, they need to make signings and the small amount garnered from the Wisdom sale will certainly help out their wage budget.
