Done deal: Attacker completes Liverpool exit, agrees terms with mid-table club
Oxford United have confirmed the signing of attacker Cameron Brannagan from Liverpool. The mid-table League One club announced on their

on Thursday that Brannagan, 21, has agreed terms to a three and a half year deal at the Kassam Stadium to seal his exit from Anfield.
Brannagan has been on the books at Liverpool throughout most of his life, but only ever managed to make nine appearances in the first-team. In the first half of this season, the former England Under-20 international was restricted to solely playing in Premier League 2 with Liverpool's Under-23s side. The attacking midfielder made eight appearances in the Under-23s this term in the youth league, scoring two goals in each of his last two outings. He now joins Oxford United, who are currently 10th in League One and could make his debut when they take on Walsall at Bescot on Saturday.

Brannagan was someone who had a lot of potential when he was rising through the Liverpool youth system, but like many young English players, he has fell victim to the insistence of signing players rather than developing your own. Jurgen Klopp had the tendency to put faith in youth at Borussia Dortmund but he is yet to convincingly do that at Anfield. Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have emerged this season, but other than them, it's hard to point out anyone who is being given a chance by Klopp, especially in the attacking area of his squad. Now with Philippe Coutinho gone, it may be time for someone to step up.
