Everton are hoping to make Oldham youngster Chris Renshaw their second signing of the summer, according to a report.

Renshaw has been targeted to join Everton’s academy and has been highly recommended by the Merseyside club's goalkeeping coach Andy Fairman.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Everton are keen to make the signing this week as they overhaul their youth set-up.

The 18-year-old, who is yet to make a first team appearance, has been on the books at Oldham since the age of 11, so Everton would be required to pay a fee for the shot-stopper.

It is reported that Renshaw has been offered a professional contract by Oldham but has rejected it in favour of joining the Toffees.

Everton released 20-year-old Czech goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek last week after his contract expired.

But new offers were made to Harry Charsley, Tyrone Duffus, Calum Dyson, Conor Grant, Louis Gray, Russell Griffiths and Antonee Robinson.

Everton are also searching for a first-choice keeper following Tim Howard's departure at the end of last season, after nine seasons with the Merseyside club.

Joel Robles was Everton’s first choice keeper for the final months of the season, but failed to convince people he was a Premier League keeper.

In the previous days Football Insider has reported their interest in Steve Mandanda, Tim Krul and Neto.
