Aston Villa are in talks with young attacker Callum O'Hare over a new deal, Football Insider understands.

Villa took up an option in April to extend 21-year-old O'Hare's contract until 2020 and now they want to tie down the attacking midfielder to a longer deal.

O'Hare is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Villa Park after coming through the ranks at Villa.

The 21-year-old, who made his Villa debut in the EFL Cup in 2017, has made nine first-team appearances for Villa and the club have high hopes for him in the future.

O'Hare enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Carlisle during the second half of last season and Villa have fielded a number of enquiries to take the player on loan this term.

Villa boss Dean Smith is happy to let O'Hare move on loan to get regular game time as the midfielder is unlikely to have too many first-team opportunities with Villa, and as Football Insider revealed on Tuesday, they're in talks with Doncaster over a deal.

However, an Aston Villa source has told Football Insider that the club wants to reward O'Hare for his progress by tying him down to a long-term deal before sanctioning a loan move to another club.
