Aston Villa are lining up talks with Keinan Davis over a new contract, Football Insider understands.

The striker, 21, has entered the final year of his deal with the Midlands giants and have yet to tie him down beyond next summer.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that Dean Smith is a big admirer of Davis and is keen for him to be secured to a long-term contract after developing impressively in his four years at the club.

The manager rebuffed widespread interest in the young forward in the recent window and he has emerged as the second choice striker after big-money summer signing Wesley Moraes.

Davis has played as a substitute in two of Villa's four Premier League matches, including 30 minutes as a replacement for Wesley in last weekend's defeat to Crystal Palace.

The versatile forward also spearheaded the attack against Crewe Alexandra in the League Cup as he netted his fourth goal for the club, which have been supplemented by four assists.

Since graduating from the Villa youth set-up, former Biggleswade United attacker Davis has made 47 appearances for the club.
