Burnley are confident of signing Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny this summer as Marcel Brands works on a deal to replace him, Football Insider understands.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that the Merseysiders are prepared to loan out Kenny, 22, next season if they succeed in recruiting a replacement during the window.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that recruitment chief Brands has a shortlist of replacement right-backs and is hopeful of securing a deal in the coming weeks.

This is a huge boost to Burnley's hopes of landing Kenny and there is growing confident an agreement will be in place for him to spend 2019/20 at Turf Moor.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche is looking to bolster the right side of his side's defence with an energetic operator for a position shared by experienced duo Phil Bardsley and Matt Lowton in the recently-completed season.

Kenny made just seven Premier League starts in 2018-19 as he played second fiddle to longstanding first choice Seamus Coleman.

Manager Marco Silva believes the Goodison academy product would be best served going out on loan to get regular first-football as he looks to bring in a player he feels can directly compete with Coleman for the starting role.

In other Everton news, it can be revealed that the club are working on a deal to sign a West Ham player this summer.
