Celtic are ready to hold talks in January over signing QPR forward Bright Osayi-Samuel, Football Insider can reveal.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider are planning to begin negotiations over an Osayi-Samuel deal as they look to win the race for his signature.

Celtic are keen to take advantage of cross-border rules and sign a player valued at £4million on a free transfer.

Osayi-Samuel is able to sign a pre-contract in just weeks and that could force QPR to sell him in the January window.

Celtic are open to a number of possible formulas and are well aware the wide man is in high demand.

Neighbours Rangers are pursuing him and there has also been interest from Premier League clubs including Leicester City, Fulham and Brighton.

He came within a whisker of joining Brugge in the summer after they had a £5m bid accepted, only for the move to collapse when the player pulled out at the eleventh hour.

His future is up in the air after he rejected fresh attempts from QPR to secure him to a new contract in October.

Osayi-Samuel has started 17 of QPR's 19 Championship matches this season, scoring two goals and supplying three assists.

The versatile operator, who can play anywhere behind the striker including on both flanks, scored six goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in all competitions last season.
