Birmingham City have made a double bid for Bristol City duo Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, Football Insider can reveal.

Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp recently admitted he was desperate to bolster his squad before the close of the transfer window and he has now launched a move to sign defensive pair Flint and Bryan.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Midlands club have bid in the region of £5million for the pair as Redknapp looks to bolster his backline options at St Andrews.

Leeds have also been credited with an interest in Flint, but Birmingham are keen to win the race for the duo.

Bristol City are reluctant to lose Flint and Bryan with the new Championship season set to get underway this weekend, but Birmingham are hopeful of prising the pair away from Ashton Gate before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Centre-back Flint has established himself as a key player in the Bristol City since joining the club from Swindon in 2013.

Left-back Bryan has come up through the ranks with his hometown club Bristol City, and has racked up nearly 200 first-team appearances for the Robins in all competitions.

Leeds are in the market for a new left-back following Charlie Taylor's departure to Burnley earlier this month.

As things currently stand, Gaetano Berardi, a right-back by trade, is in line to start Sunday's Championship opener away to Bolton Wanderers.
