Exclusive: Huddersfield Town, Burton & Peterborough set sights on signing 25yo ex-PL striker
Huddersfield Town are plotting a move to sign Gillingham striker Mikael Mandron before the close of the transfer window, Football Insider understands.
The former Sunderland striker has caught the eye since joining the League One side last summer, with Peterborough United and Burton joining the Terriers in the hunt for his capture.
A source at Huddersfield has told Football Insider that manager Danny Cowley is desperate to add firepower to his side this month and that 25-year-old Maldron is in his sights.
The northern outfit are among the lowest scorers in the league, with just 31 goals to their name, and manager Cowley wants attacking reinforcements to boost their chances of survival this season.
Peterborough are also keeping tabs on Mandron in case they lose their talisman forward Ivan Toney before the end of the month, the League One top scorer being chased by a number of Championship and Premier League clubs.
Mandron moved to England in 2011 to join Sunderland, where he made three Premier League appearances as a substitute before leaving in 2016.
