Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic and Charlton Athletic have set their sights on signing Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Alnwick this summer, Football Insider understands.

Bolton are facing a major battle to keep hold of their players following relegation from the Championship and their uncertain financial position.

Alnwick has a year to run on his contract but a source close to the club has told Football Insider he could be available for free with the players not being paid on various occasions last season.

Huddersfield are in the market for goalkeeping reinforcements this summer after seeing Jonas Lossl run down his contract and join Everton on a free transfer.

Wigan are also looking for a new goalkeeper following Christian Walton's return to Brighton after his loan spell at the DW Stadium.

Championship new boys Charlton Athletic are also weighing up a move for Alnwick as they seek to add cover and competition for Dillon Phillips next season.

Alnwick made 28 appearances in all competitions for Bolton last season and would have made appearances only for a couple of injury lay-offs.

Former Sunderland and Tottenham shot-stopper Alnwick boasts a wealth of experience having made over 250 first-team appearances in his career to date.

In other Bolton Wanderers news, it can be REVEALED that Wolves are in pole position to sign Trotters ace who can play in multiple positions.
