Newcastle United striker Elias Sorensen has agreed a deal to join Carlisle on loan, Football Insider understands.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is happy to loan out the highly-rated Sorensen as he is well down the pecking order at St James’ Park.

A number of Football League clubs have made enquiries for Sorensen, but a Newcastle source has told Football Insider that League Two Carlisle have moved quickly to agree a deal with the club for the Denmark Under-21 international.

Sorensen has yet to make his first-team debut for Newcastle, but has been a prolific scorer in the club’s Under-23s side.

The 19-year-old had a spell on loan at Blackpool last season, but he made just one appearance for Blackpool and was recalled by Newcastle after just two months following his lack of games.

Talking to the

yesterday, Sorensen had said he'd prefer to stay and fight for his place in the Newcastle side.

However, he also said, "If he [Bruce] wants me to go out on loan I'll do that."
