Norwich City are close to signing highly-rated Rochdale youngster Daniel Adshead after agreeing a £300,000 fee, Football Insider understands.

The versatile midfielder has attracted the interest of the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City and Manchester United in the past and came close to a Premier League move last summer.

A Norwich source has told Football Insider the club are on the verge of luring the 17-year-old and are confident of doing so before he turns 18 on September 2.

They regard Adshead a potential star-in-the-making and have moved quickly to agree a fee in the region of £300,000 with Rochdale for him.

Rochdale are reluctant to lose the teenager, but they could not stand in the way of the England Under-18 international moving to the Premier League.

Adshead became Rochdale's youngest ever debutant - aged 16 years and 17 day - when he made his debut in the 2017/18 season, but that record is now held by Luke Matheson.

The teenager has made 25 first-team appearances since breaking into the Rochdale side and he is regarded as one the brightest young prospects in the Football League.
