West Bromwich Albion have agreed a £400,000 deal for Yeovil defender Tom James as they continue their signing blitz, Football Insider sources understands.

The Baggies have beaten Championship rivals Swansea to James' signature as both clubs tried to sign the highly-rated right-back.

A well placed source has told Football Insider that former Wales Under-19 international James is now set to undergo a medical at the Hawthorns today before becoming the club's latest new signing of the summer.

West Brom boss Darren Moore has been seeking to add strength in depth to his squad at the Hawthorns and he sees James' versatility as a major attraction in that he can play anywhere across the backline as a key addition to his plans.

James enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Yeovil last season, making 51 appearances in all competitions for the League Two club.

The right-back, who started his career at Cardiff City, impressed in Yeovil's run to the fourth round of the FA Cup and played in their clash with Manchester United.
