Tottenham have tabled a second bid for Leeds United winger Jack Clarke of £8million, Football Insider can reveal.

The north Londoners have stepped up their attempts to prise the 18-year-old from Elland Road this summer by increasing their first offer, which had been rejected by United.

The Yorkshire giants must now decide whether to accept Tottenham's new offer or reject it, and face the prospect of losing out altogether on a major fee for one of their prize assets.

Spurs have emerged at the front of the queue of suitors for Clarke after Football Insider first broke the news last month they are preparing a move to sign Elland Road academy product following encouragement that he could be lured away this summer.

There remains interest from the likes of Bournemouth and Southampton, but they are currently in the background while Tottenham and Leeds negotiate a deal.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has given the green light for the club to pursue Clarke this summer as he looks to increase the quota of home-grown stars at the club.

The teenager burst on to the first-team scene at Leeds last season with a series of exciting displays on the wing after being fast-tracked by Marcelo Bielsa.
