Steven Gerrard is poised to swoop for Liverpool right-back Jon Flanagan, according to a club Insider.

The Rangers Observer, which is a solid source of Rangers news, claimed that the move for Flanagan, 25, was a "goer" and that he would be heading to Ibrox on a permanent deal.

James Tavernier is the current right-back and Flanagan would provide much-needed cover, although he can play on either flank.

The right-back is set to be a free agent this summer when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of June.

He spent the second half of last season out on loan at Bolton where he made nine appearances in the Championship.

Flanagan made 51 senior appearances for Liverpool, but he couldn't force himself into the first-team on a regular basis and now Jurgen Klopp has decided to cut him free.
