Sources: Leeds reject Bogusz offer as Bielsa wants him to join English club
Leeds United have rejected an offer from Legia Warsaw for young playmaker Mateusz Bogusz, Football Insider has learned.
The Polish club have made an early move to take the Poland Under-21 international on loan for next season.
But a Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club have knocked back the offer as manager Marcelo Bielsa wants Bogusz, 19, to join an English club next term.
The United manager and his coaching staff rate the teenager highly and believe he has the potential to make it in the Premier League.
They believe the next stage of his development will be a season on loan at an English Championship club.
Bogusz has spent this season on loan at Spanish second-tier club UD Logrones and had his first regular starting role at senior level.
He has made 20 appearances in all competitions, including 18 in the league made up of nine starts.
There is expected to be plenty of interest from EFL clubs in the attacking midfielder, who is versatile enough to play in more defensive roles as well.
There was strong interest in him last summer from English trio Portsmouth, Swindon Town and Gillingham.
But United felt it would be best for him to spend a season in Spain before he plays in the physically demanding Football League.
Bogusz has played three times for Leeds since joining in January 2019 from Polish outfit Ruch Chorzow.
