Sources: Leeds United respond to Newcastle's Jack Harrison bid
Leeds United have rejected an £18million Newcastle United bid for Jack Harrison, sources have told Football Insider.
This site revealed on Wednesday afternoon (20 July) that Newcastle had followed up their interest in the wide forward, 25, with a formal move.
But Leeds have knocked it back as they hold out for a higher fee for Harrison.
Newcastle believe their Premier League rivals are open to selling the winger and that a deal can be done this summer.
Harrison has two years left to run on the permanent deal he signed last summer at Elland Road.
The former England Under-21 international has spent four seasons with the West Yorkshire club, the first three of those on loan from Man City.
He has registered 22 goals and 28 assists in 161 appearances in total for the Whites.
Leeds have already sold star duo Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips to Barcelona and Man City respectively this summer.
But they are also second only to Tottenham in terms of transfer outlay in the Premier League so far, with almost £100m spent on six new recruits.
Newcastle have also flexed their financial muscle in the transfer market and signed Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope for a combined total of close to £60m.
Harrison, who has featured in all of Leeds' pre-season games ahead of 2022-23, would represent the ninth signing of the PIF era if the Magpies can convince Leeds to part with the player.
