Man City have been laying the groundwork to re-sign former youth academy player Pedro Porro, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Football Insider journalist Connor Humm revealed the right-back is being closely watched by City and would fit “like a glove” in Pep Guardiola’s team.

The 25-year-old was on Man City’s books from 2019 to 2022 but never made any first-team appearances for the club.

The Spain international spent most of his time away on loan at other clubs, but he eventually returned to the Premier League via Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

Man City build their academy to play how they want their first team to be, which means that Porro would have a level of understanding as to what Guardiola demands from his team.

Man City will have to work hard to sign Pedro Porro

Porro has become a regular at Spurs and has proven his ability to create problems offensively by scoring eight and providing 10 assists in 63 appearances for the club.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that it will take a big offer from the defending Premier League champions to re-sign Porro.

Walker isn’t the only player that Guardiola is searching to replace in the long term, as Kevin de Bruyne’s future at the club remains uncertain.
