Man City will listen to a "big" offer for Ederson after his disappointing performances so far this season.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that City will make assessments on every member of their squad.

The sale of Ederson would allow them to reinvest in a new goalkeeper and refresh the position amid growing concerns about the performances of some key stars.

Following the 2-1 defeat in the Manchester Derby on 15 December, the 31-year-old has come in for plenty of stick and there have been renewed calls for him to drop out of the side.

Stefan Ortega was handed a run in the side for games against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, signalling that Ederson is no longer a nailed-on starter at City.

Now, Pep Guardiola's side have been tipped to cash in on him if the interest from Saudi Arabian clubs is renewed come the end of the season.

Man City to consider Ederson offers after Saudi Arabia twist

Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Ederson could be among the players allowed to leave City in the near future.

"City are weighing up whether to let a few of their players go," he told Football Insider.

"They're assessing the key areas of their team and which players have struggled more than perhaps they expected so far this season.

"So if they decide there's a problem in goal, they'll listen to a big offer for him in the summer.

"Especially if that interest from Saudi Arabia is still there, they could be tempted to sell.

"At the moment, I think there are more pressing issues like signing a new right-back to replace Walker, who has been an issue for them.

"They're looking at all of their players at the moment because they haven't been good enough.

"But, if you look at Ederson's performances recently and the mistakes he's made, they might think the time has come to move him on.

"We tend to think of goalkeepers as established parts of the team, they have their first-choice option and that's that, but if they're not up to it, questions have to be asked."
