West Brom are close to signing Benfica attacking midfielder Filip Krovinovic as he prepares to jet in to undergo a medical, Football Insider can reveal.

The Championship big hitters are working on a deal to land a player manager Slaven Bilic knows well from his homeland.

A West Brom source has told Football Insider that the club are in advanced talks to sign Krovinovic on a season-long loan and are confident it will go-ahead despite suggestions on Thursday that the deal has collapsed.

Norwich City have also been keeping close tabs on the attacker, 23, who joined Portugese giants Benfica from Rio Ave two years ago.

Krovinovic is eager to work with his fellow Croatian Bilic and ready to make a move to the English Championship to reignite his career.

He has struggled for playing time at Benfica, making just 12 appearances last season and 16 in his debut campaign, which have yielded a total of just two goals and one assist.

Krovinovic, who has been capped by Croatia at Under-21 level, impressed at former club Rio Ave, hitting five goals and providing three assists in the 2016-17 season before heading to Benfica.
