Medical scheduled: Stoke City finalise forward signing after terms agreed - Sources
Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo has arrived at Stoke City to put the finishing touches to a January transfer, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship big hitters have completed negotiations with the Bundesliga side for the capture of the Wales international on loan for the rest of the season.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Matondo is set to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours as the deal is finalised.
This site revealed on Sunday that Stoke's loan bid had been accepted and Matondo was given the green light to move.
The attacker has struggled to make an impact at the Bundesliga club since signing from Man City in January 2019 in an £8million deal.
This season he has been limited to just three Bundesliga starts, having struggled with a knee problem for much of November and December.
In total, Matondo has made 32 appearances for Schalke in his two years at the club but scored only two goals.
Stoke are in the market for offensive reinforcements this month following a serious knee injury to star forward Tyrese Campbell before Christmas, while they are also without Steven Fletcher.
Campbell's 16 Championship appearances prior to the injury yielded six goals and seven assists.
Matondo rose up the ranks at Cardiff City's academy before moving to Manchester City in July 2016.
His impressive performances for City's youth sides earned him a call up to the senior Wales squad in November 2018 and he now has four caps for the national team.
