Arsenal fans have reacted to Mikel Arteta’s press conference comments after the manager admitted the team “needs support”.

The Gunners secured a crucial 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Tottenham on 15 January and currently sit second in the Premier League.

However, with Bukayo Saka sidelined and Gabriel Jesus out with a long-term injury, fans are urging the club to sign a forward during the transfer window.

Arteta addressed these concerns in his latest press conference ahead of the clash with Aston Villa. He said: “We have lost two massive players. We are trying actively, and we need some support” (Sky Sports).

Arsenal fans make their frustrated voices heard

The Arsenal faithful are in agreement with their manager that the team urgently needs reinforcements, especially with Kai Havertz currently the only fit striker available.

The situation is equally concerning on the right wing, where Raheem Sterling remains the sole option. However, the Englishman has struggled to make an impact since his arrival, and many fans have called for his loan deal to be terminated.

Sterling has yet to score for the club in the Premier League, with his only goal in 13 appearances coming against Bolton in the EFL Cup.

While the Gunners have made Newcastle talisman Alexander Isak their priority summer signing, the immediate issues remain unresolved. They have also “virtually completed” a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi for the summer [Daily Mail], prompting questions to the club’s current priorities.

Frustrated supporters have directed their anger at owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), urging them to back their coach in the January transfer window.

One fan said the manager is “crying for help” and accused the board of “not listening” while another added that Arteta is “begging every week” for reinforcements up front.
