Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp is in advanced talks over a new contract with the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The 23-year-old's future had been thrown into doubt after Premier League new boys Leicester City registered an interest in the midfielder.

Football Insider revealed (July 17) that Leicester were interested in Skipp following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Chelsea.

Spurs had been open to selling Skipp so long as they were able to secure a home-grown replacement but the midfielder now looks set to stay at the club.

Negotiations over a new deal are advancing and could result in an agreement this week.

Oliver Skipp set for new Tottenham deal

Skipp has made 77 Premier League appearances scoring one goal but has failed to establish himself under Ange Postecoglou with most of his 21 league appearances last season coming off the bench.

Ange Postecoglu has preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr since joining the club so starting spots are in short supply for Skipp.

Spurs are likely more inclined to keep the midfielder at the club after Emile Hojbjerg's move to French club Marseille earlier in the window.

The club are yet to sign anyone over the age of 18 but are set for a late window transfer blitz as they aim for Champions League qualification next season.
