Prolific midfielder from title chasers most likely to be next Celtic signing - Football Whispers
Wigan midfielder Nick Powell is most likely to be the next signing that Celtic make, according to a report.
Sky Sports’ live transfer blog regularly plugs its Football Whispers section, which claimed on Monday [02:12pm] that Powell, 23, has a strong chance of signing for the Hoops when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 3.6 out of 5 that Powell will be the next signing at Parkhead.
Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that Celtic are not the only team in the hunt to sign Powell though as it is understood that Brighton and Aston Villa are also keeping close tabs on the former Manchester United midfielder.
Wigan could potentially be offering Powell a new contract in the future due to his immense form at the DW Stadium this season, and there's a chance that could squander Celtic's hopes of snapping up the prolific midfielder who has scored 12 goals and supplied four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.

Powell will no doubt be waiting until the summer before he makes a decision on his future because it could be impacted by how well Wigan do this season. The Latics are chasing the title in England's League One. If they were to miss out on promotion then there's a very good chance he'll quit the DW Stadium. If they do go up, it may cost Celtic a bit more money and take a bit more convincing to sign him. Wigan are six points behind Blackburn at the top of the table but have four games in hand on them, so they definitely could go up.
