Rangers are now looking to keep winger Rabbi Matondo beyond the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Philippe Clement is pushing for the club to keep Matondo, 23, regardless of interest from Championship clubs.

Norwich City were also interested in bringing Matondo to England but the Glasgow giants rejected their loan offer for the winger.

Rangers want to keep Rabbi Matondo in latest transfer twist

Matondo, who joined Rangers from Schalke two years ago, notched six goals and four assists in 31 games last term.

He's already on his way to beating his output from last season, scoring twice and registering two assists in their 6-0 victory over Ross County.

Leeds United had seen Matondo as a potential replacement for Crysencio Summerville but the Wales international now looks set to stay at the Ibrox.

Clement's side could be set to have a busy end to the transfer window with Todd Cantwell finally set to leave the club for Blackburn Rovers.
