Ryan Kent can "end Premier League speculation" by signing a new deal at Rangers.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid speculation that Kent is seeking improved terms at Ibrox.

Kent's current deal runs until 2023 and, as revealed by this site when it was signed in 2019, is worth £20,000-a-week.

Football Insider revealed in April that the 24-year-old has decided to stay at Rangers next season amid interest from Leeds and Ibrox sources now say the club are very keen to extend his deal.

As for the player, he feels loyal to Steven Gerrard and wants a crack at the Champions League before looking to exit.

Robinson insists that it's paramount that Kent stays at the club and that Rangers are in a good position to keep hold of him.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: "He's been brilliant this year and he's been linked with the Premier League on numerous occasions.

"But the draw of playing for Rangers is greater now than it has been for a long time. What Steven Gerrard has done there must be great to be a part of.

"They've got the opportunity to play in the Champions League, to win trophies. I've said all along, you build your team around the best players, you don't sell them.

"I don't suppose it will ever go away permanently, but he can end the Premier League speculation for 12 months if he signs a new contract."

Rangers

Kent featured 52 times in total for Rangers in 2021-22.

Those appearances yielded 13 goals and 15 assists.
