Sergio Romero will not move to Everton to be Jordan Pickford's understudy.

That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 34-year-old's future.

Romero is available on a free transfer this summer after being let go by Manchester United.

The Toffees are in the market for a proven second goalkeeper after Robin Olsen returned to AS Roma after a year long loan spell at Goodison Park.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs whether Romero would be a welcome addition, Robinson said:

"I cannot see anyone taking the gloves off Jordan Pickford at the moment. He has been exceptional at the Euros.

"I don't think Romero wants to be in a situation when he is number two again. He has wasted enough time on the bench and I think he will want to go and play now.

"It would be very frustrating for him if he went to a club like Everton and did not play.

"He has done his time as an understudy. His next move has to be to a club where he is the number one.

"He is a good keeper who has brilliant distribution. He has been unfortunate at United."
