Marco Silva is set to give the green light for Everton to sell defender Antonee Robinson this summer, Football Insider understands.

An Everton source has told Football Insider the club are expected to permanently offload the USA international after he failed to make the breakthrough at Goodison Park.

Lucas Digne is the first choice left-back at the Premier League club and, significantly, the club opted to hand veteran Leighton Baines, 34, a one-year contract extension last week.

The chances of Robinson playing for the Everton first team next season are remote, barring an injury crisis, and the player is likely to push for the chance to play regularly elsewhere.

The USA international, who has played six times for his country after adding to his caps this summer, is contracted to Everton until the summer of 2021.

Robinson spent last season on loan at Wigan, where he made 26 appearances in all competitions and was a regular starter either side of suffering a serious ankle injury.

The left-back previously had a stint on loan at Bolton Wanderers.
