Tottenham have offered Son Heung-Min a mammoth new deal worth £60million in total, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League big hitters are working hard behind the scenes on tying the South Korea international to extended terms following the closure of the domestic transfer window.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Son has been offered a contract worth £200,000-a-week plus performance-related bonuses.

This would catapult him straight into the bracket of top earners at the club alongside talisman and goal king Harry Kane.

The five-year deal worth around £52million would also nearly double the wages of Son, 28, whose current deal expires in the summer of 2023.

Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board are very keen to avoid another situation in which a star player runs down his contract and leaves for a cut-price fee, just as Christian Eriksen did last season.

Son's reputation as a Premier League and global sensation has been further enhanced by his brilliant start to the new campaign.

The 89-times international has already banged in nine goals from eight matches, with his latest coming in the 3-0 Europa League win at LASK last night.

Son started on the bench as Mourinho fielded a weakened side but replaced Gareth Bale after 62 minutes and, just 22 minutes later, extended his excellent scoring record.

Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son has played 237 times for Tottenham, scoring 94 goals and providing 51 assists.
