Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis is undergoing a Watford medical on Friday (12 August), sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club have agreed to sign the forward, 24, on a season-long loan.

Villa have given the green light to Davis heading to the Hornets after Steven Gerrard made it clear he does not want Cameron Archer going on loan this season.

The capture of the in-demand striker is a major coup for Watford.

They have won the race for Davis ahead of multiple rivals including West Brom and Norwich City.

Sources told Football Insider on Thursday (11 August) that Villa have rejected multiple loan offers from the Championship for Archer.

The 20-year-old is now Gerrard's third-choice striker behind Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins after a successful loan spell with Preston North End last season.

Davis spent the second half of the last campaign with Nottingham Forest as they won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

The Englishman scored five times and provided three assists in 22 games across all competitions for Forest, including appearances in all three play-off games.

He still has two years left to run on his Aston Villa contract but his long-term future at the club is uncertain.

Watford have enjoyed an unbeaten start to life back in the Championship but may need to bolster their attacking ranks.

Emmanuel Dennis, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro have lined up as a front three this season but there are question marks over the future of the trio.

The Hornets are next in action on Friday (12 August) when they host fellow newly-relegated side Burnley at Vicarage Road in the Championship.
