Chelsea are already working on a box-office striker signing ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues' recruitment team are analysing the market and lining up potential targets ahead of a deal which could be their biggest to date.

A Chelsea source told Football Insider that "huge" cash will be set aside for a new forward but funds will also need to be raised through player sales.

Forward Armando Broja is regarded as one for the future at Stamford Bridge but is a long-term absentee following his anterior cruciate ligament rupture in December 2022.

Romelu Lukaku will also return to Chelsea following his loan return to Inter Milan - although reports have suggested that the Italian giants are keen to keep him at the club next season.

Chelsea spent a reported £292million in the January window but failed to add an established out-and-out striking option.

Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, and Noni Madueke were among the forward options to arrive at the club in the mid-season window.

Graham Potter's side are unlikely to secure Champions League qualification this season as they sit nine points away from fourth-place Newcastle.

They were held to a 1-1 draw away at West Ham on Saturday (11 February).
