Celtic target Kyle Edwards is undergoing a Bournemouth trial and will feature in their pre-season clash against Chelsea tonight, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Now a Bournemouth source has told Football Insider that the club have offered Edwards the chase to line up in their 7.45pm friendly against the European champions this evening.

Scott Parker's side are giving the winger the chance to earn a contract following his exit from West Brom at the end of last month.

Edwards has been training with Reading although they are not the favourites to sign him.

Celtic have held talks with Edwards over a contract but Bournemouth are now well placed to win the race for his signature.

One advantage the Scottish giants have is they would not be required to pay West Brom as much compensation for development costs as the English clubs.

Cross-border rules mean the fee would not be more than £300,000.

Celtic have stepped up their recruitment drive over the last week and have now brought in five new players this window.

Defender Carl Starfelt was announced last Wednesday as the third senior arrival following the captures of attacking pair Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada.

Youngsters Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide have both arrived from Sheffield Wednesday.

The Cherries appointed Parker as their new manager earlier this month immediately after his exit from Fulham.

They failed to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking last season, losing to Brentford in the Championship playoffs.
